R1 Religious Worker Visa K-1 for Bridal Engagement
The K-1 visa is for the groom (a) abroad engaged to marry a U.S. citizen, this visa is also commonly called the "Fiancé Visa." K1 visas are given to those foreign nationals who are committed to a U.S. citizen and intend to marry her American boyfriend once they reach the United States. The U.S. citizen must file a petition on behalf of your fiancé (e) to the USCIS. After the petition is approved, the fiancé (e) can obtain a visa K-1 for boyfriends engaged in a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad. The marriage must take place within 90 days after the groom (a) has come to the United States.
Eligibility Requirements: Until the marriage takes place, the groom (a) abroad is considered a nonimmigrant. A non-immigrant is a foreigner who wants to enter the United States with a specific purpose. A groom (a) can not obtain an extension to the 90 days originally gave when you were admitted as non-immigrant.
After the marriage takes place, the alien may apply for a Residence Card (Green Card) through Marriage a United States citizen.
